I was commissioned to modernise a logo for Stanground Carpets and Flooring, a local domestic and commercial flooring company, so that it would work more effectively across different media applications - from print to digital. It was requested that additional colours were to be used to help them create a more inviting appearance that reflected their business values.
After analysing the previous logo, elements were identified that could be utilised to capture the original spirit while also bringing the identity up to date. Elements such as the acronym, "SCF" and the original colour blue had been used as shorthand to identify with the company, so I was keen to give these elements more clarity to make a better fit for their industry and to whom they supply.
Moving from a serif to a sans serif font with open terminals helped to add a more inviting, modern approach while colour gradients were added to complement a more vibrant blue and give the identity energy. The overall shape was refined to add simplicity and recognition when applied to different media, while also adding more movement to the original stacked floor tile concept.
As well as the identity being applied to a new website and their fleet of vehicles, a sponsorship board was also produced for Peterborough United F.C. and put on display on the London Road Terrace - the home end of the stadium.
